In Yin Yoga, the individual yoga exercises are mainly performed while sitting or lying down without muscle activity, i.e. passively and held for several minutes. Yin Yoga is a calm yoga style that helps you to get into a meditative state. The goal of Yin Yoga is to go deep into a position and stay in it for a few minutes in order to reach the deep layers of connective tissue in the body (fascial tissues, bones and joints) - rather than the muscles as in Yang-oriented styles . This helps to increase mobility, flexibility and suppleness in these tissue structures - properties that we lose over the years - be it through age, wear and tear or injury. Yin Yoga is intended to let the energies - the Chi - flow freely again in the body and thus to promote an energetic balance and has many advantages for the health of the organs. Yin Yoga combines yoga with the knowledge of TCM and was invented by Paulie Zink and further developed by Paul Grilley. Yin and Yang are two opposing forces that every person carries within themselves and should be in a harmonious balance. Therefore, Yin Yoga is the perfect complement to our everyday life, which is more yang-heavy, and especially to every active form of movement, especially for us dancers. Please wear warm and comfortable clothes, lay a yoga mat or blanket on the floor, have 2 large pillows ready and be open to immerse yourself in the magic of Yin Yoga.
