In YIN YANG YOGA FLOW we start with a strengthening and dynamic yoga style (YANG) where we combine asanas (postures) with each other in flowing movements and with a synchronous flow of breath. Your muscles will be strengthened and your endurance, balance and flexibility will be promoted.
In the second half we will do the individual yoga exercises mainly while sitting or lying down without muscle activity, i.e. passively and hold them for several minutes. Yin Yoga is a calm yoga style that helps to get into a meditative state and to let the energies - the chi - flow freely again in the body. The goal of Yin Yoga is to go deep into a position to reach the deep layers of connective tissue in the body (fascial tissues, bones, and joints) - rather than the muscles as in Yang-oriented styles. This helps to achieve more mobility, flexibility and suppleness in these tissue structures - properties that we lose over the years.
Yin and Yang are two opposing forces that every person carries within themselves and should be in a harmonious balance. Therefore, Yin Yoga is the perfect complement to our everyday life, which is more yang-heavy, and especially to every active form of movement, especially for us dancers.
GET READY: Yoga mat, 2 blankets (1 to cover up towards the end, 1 to put on the mat for Yin Yoga), 2 small pillows, 1 large pillow / bolster, 2 toilet paper, 1 belt
